Hello and welcome to my very first blog post!
In this brand-new section I will give you some "behind-the-scene" information on my work - we will talk about style and creative process, my favourite materials and inspirations, I will offer some tips and tutorials on drawing and painting techniques and much more.
Let's start with a little info about myself. I was born in Italy, where I studied languages and translation at University. After graduating, I moved to England to work as a translator, and here I still am, after 5 years. I really like England, and its beautiful countryside offers plenty of inspiration for my paintings (but I will talk about that in a future post).
I have always loved art, and since I can remember I always had a pencil in my hand, constantly sketching, colouring, and filling my school diaries with colourful drawings. It never occurred to me, however, that I could turn this passion into a job. At least not until two years ago, when a dear friend of mine asked me to do some illustrations for a scrap-book of children stories she wrote for a loved one. The book was such a success among friends and family that everyone encouraged us to publish it.
So, after a few months of experimenting and trying to teach myself how to use software for digital painting and desktop publishing, our first book of the series "The Adventures of Bambu, the Busy Body Bear - The Surprise" came to life.
In my next blog post I will talk in more detail about my learning process, the techniques I used in "The Surprise" and the new techniques I am experimenting with right now.
If you have any questions or suggestions for my future posts, please leave a comment. See you next time!
